Tracking Force Explained
The Trackball tracking force, as specified by Cursor Controls Ltd, is the force required to move the ball from its static position. The value reflects the initial force required to move the ball and not the dynamic or rolling force.
The trackball tracking force is measured using a gram gauge to determine the force required to move the ball from its static position. This force measurement may be conducted using a manual or automated test method.
Tracking force is always measured tangential to the surface of the ball and is expressed in grams. A tracking force range is specified for each CCL product and this is shown on the product datasheet.
